12 May 2008: Sun is Shining so bring your flip-flops!

This is a great time of year to be in London. Somehow the city changes and becomes far greener than it appears in the colder months. Some of the best places to spend the sunnier days are the places you will find by just walking around. Turn a corner and you are greeted with al-fresco diners which had you walked in November you wouldn't know existed. Even Starbucks and Cafe nero give you a warm and fuzzy feeling. Latte's have turned to Frapuccinos, Cappucinos into orange juices. Also, don't forget the pub. Late in the afternoon pubs all around London end up with crowds fighting for a piece of footpath to enjoy their ale of choice in the sun. Great atmosphere filled every temptation to drive this feeling further into the night.

Here are a few suggestions for you:

Grab some sushi on Piccadilly and head across the road to Green Park and nestle between the trees with the other lunch-goers.

Lansdowne Row is down Berkely Street in Mayfair and lined with some cute eateries, cafes and restaurants with a somewhat chic'nees to them. perfect outdoorsy bites to be had in a nice location. Berkeley St is opposite The Ritz Hotel on Piccadilly.

Hyde Park, by the Serpentine, has a cafe/restaurant. Not great food but a nice place to grab a coffee or ice cream and watch the ducks and paddle boats.

Kensington & Chelsea are perfect for "chic eats". Where? Just about anywhere to be honest. There are very few shabby places as they have to have a good standard to tempt to discerning locals out if they want to stay in business here. The Michellin Building in South Kensington houses the Conran Shop and Bibendum, a lovely acrcade style seafood restaurant perfect for a quick seafood platter and a bit of celebrity spotting.

Late afternoon could not be better spent than on top of the Oxo Tower across the river. Grab a refreshment and gaze over London from this vantage point riverside. Food is also bloody good!
